Greetings

Dallas has few diversions other than eating, drinking and shopping.....and shopping does not interest us.
So we spend our time hopping from restaurant to restaurant and to every pub that we can find in search of the perfect meal and the perfect beer.

We randomly review restaurants and bars, dishes and beers at whim and give our brutally honest opinions of our findings. And while we concentrate on Dallas, we travel far and wide to sample cuisine from all regions of the country and beyond.

Stephen Beaumont's Visit to Dallas

Are you a beer geek?  Do you love meeting famous beer people and annoying them with obscure beer trivia?  This is your chance to meet an Uber Beer Geek who literally wrote the book on beer.  So here is the press release from the good folks at the Flying Saucer concerning his visit here in Dallas in October.   Enjoy-Bon

 I wanted to let you know about several events happening at Bird Café and the Flying Saucer locations in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Both Bird Café and Flying Saucer Draught Emporium will be hosting world-renowned beer expert and author, Stephen Beaumont for a tasting and book signing for is new book “Pocket Beer Guide 2015: The World’s Best Craft and Traditional Beers,” which releases Oct. 1.
 Here is a quick synopsis of the happening events:
 ·      Flying Saucer on the Lake: Brewers Foursome with Stephen Beaumont Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.
o   6-ounce tastings of each beer paired with small plates featuring representatives from Deschutes Brewing Co., Founders Brewing Co., Real Ale Brewing Co. and Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. They will feature one beer from each of their portfolios that highlights a shining accomplishment from their brewery. Beaumont will taste and offer his thoughts on each brew with regard to style, origin and history on a global level. Book signing to follow.
·      Bird Café in Fort Worth: Five-Course Pairdiné and Book Signing with Stephen Beaumont Wednesday, Oct. 8 6:30 p.m.
o   The dinner will feature a five-course menu created by Chef David McMillan and paired with fine wine, spirits and craft beers specially selected by Beaumont.
 ·      Addison Flying Saucer: Beer Tasting & Book Signing with Stephen Beaumont Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.
o   Featuring rare beers paired with small plates to compliment the beers. Beaumont will taste and offer his thoughts on each brew with regard to style, origin and history on a global level. Book signing to follow.
·      Fort Worth Flying Saucer: Local Brewers Summit hosted by Stephen Beaumont Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
o   Beaumont will guide a group of beer enthusiasts through a tasting with some of DFW’s best local brewers. They will feature one beer from each of their portfolios that highlights a shining accomplishment from the brewery. Beaumont will taste and offer his thoughts on each brew with regard to style, origin and history on a global level. Book signing to follow.
