Rodeo Goat Ice House Opens Today
In the Dallas Design District
DALLAS, Jan. 14, 2015 – Rodeo Goat Ice House, a casual beer and burger place from restaurateurs Shannon Wynne, Keith Schlabs and Larry Richardson, opens its second location tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Dallas Design District at 1926 Market Center Blvd.
The first Rodeo Goat opened in Fort Worth in 2012 and features more than a dozen different burgers made from beef ground in-house daily. The Fort Worth restaurant won the honor of “Best Burger in DFW” in 2013 by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The Dallas location will be led by Chef Kyle Baker, formerly sous chef of Meddlesome Moth, and will follow the same creative format for its burgers, including favorites like the Chaco Oaxaca (beef and chorizo, avocado, pico de gallo, fried egg, queso fresco and Tabasco mayo) and Olivia Darling (green olive tapenade, lettuce, tomato, roasted red pepper mayo and herb cheese spread).
Rodeo Goat’s drink menu offers 23 beers on tap, as well as bottles, including domestic and imported brews, a large selection of American and Texas craft beers, a hand-selected wine list and a unique cocktail menu featuring concoctions such as the Fainting Goat (Revolver Blood & Honey, vodka and orange juice) and “Moontang” (small-batch Texas moonshine and the drink they took to the moon).
Like its Fort Worth counterpart, Rodeo Goat Dallas will feature a big patio and a private area for parties called The Pen.
“Rodeo Goat’s Fort Worth location has been pretty successful due to the folks in Fort Worth – they get it,” Wynne said. “We plopped the Moth down in the Design District six years ago, and everybody thought we were nuts. They thought the area was dangerous; it’s not. People didn’t know how to get there; they learned. So now, we are taking them just a little deeper into the district to the new Trinity Strand Trail.”
The Old Trinity River Corridor runs behind the Goat’s newest location, prominently featuring the Trinity Strand Trail outside its backdoors. The Strand is set for formal opening this spring, with an eventual three-and-a-half mile connector to The Katy Trail.
